Golden Hour River Walks

Golden Hour River Walks

(Weekly, Sat/Sun 5:30–6:30 PM)
Follow the shady Walking Trails loop for mellow steps under the oaks as the autumn temperatures cool. Sunset on the Leon River offers peak color and easy wildlife spotting. Bring comfy shoes, water, and your phone for pictures.

Supermoon Watch: Harvest Moon

Supermoon Watch: Harvest Moon

(October 6–8)
Spread a blanket near the river clearing and watch the first supermoon of the season rise big and bright. No gear needed—just dim your phone and let your eyes adjust. Tip: arrive 20 minutes before moonrise for the best show.

Draconids Meteor Shower

Draconids Meteor Shower

(Best: Evening of October 8)
Unlike most showers, the Draconids are best right after dusk—perfect for families. Lie back on the lawn by the Park Map clearing or a dark section of the trail. Expect a few to dozens of meteors per hour; a little patience goes a long way. For more details, check out this Draconids overview from Time and Date.

Leonids Meteor Shower

Leonids Meteor Shower

(Predawn, November 17–18)
Set an early alarm for this classic shower; the best views are before dawn. Face east from the open field area and watch for fast, bright streaks. EarthSky offers a great Leonids viewing guide.

Gratitude Walk

Gratitude Walk

(Thanksgiving Week, self-guided)
Take a quiet loop on our trails—pause at three “gratitude spots”: the river overlook, an oak bench, and your site before dinner. It’s a peaceful way to reflect.
